ECVA Recreational Volleyball League

ECVA RECREATIONAL VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

- Open to ages 9 - 16 (USAV Age - Shown on Athlete's Profile when accurate DOB is added)

- Divisions will be separated by age. Teams will participate in the division based on the oldest member on their roster. We use the USAV age guidelines which denote July 1st as the cutoff date for each age division. The USAV age guidelines can be found HERE.

- Registration ends on May 14, 2026

- NEW THIS SEASON: Players who do not register with a team will be placed via lottery. Evaluations days will no longer take place and will instead be replaced with additional skills session offerings.

- ALL TEAMS WILL REQUIRE AN ADULT VOLUNTEER COACH!! Volunteer coaches will be supported by ECVA staff, including answering any questions, helping to understand rotations, and develop practice and game plans. Volunteer coaches are used to keep the league affordable to all. Anyone planning to or interested in volunteering, please reach out to ECVAinfo@gmail.com. Any team who does not have a volunteer coach runs the risk of being removed from the league.

- The initial team practice will be lead by an ECVA coach to ensure all volunteer coaches are familiar with rotations/positions etc.

- Games will be played on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday/Wednesday evenings. Teams will NOT play every Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Those are the possible game days and we will provide a complete schedule at the beginning of the season. Sunday game times are 1/2/3/4/5 or 6pm. Weekday evening games will be played at 6/7/8pm. Younger age divisions will utilize the earlier weekday times to avoid late finishes.

- Games begin Sunday, May 31st and may run through July 9th (taking off the week prior to July 4) dependent on number of teams.

- Teams will be comprised of a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 10 players

- All teams will play 9 regular season matches and are guaranteed one tournament match. Some teams may play an additional tournament match based on their record/finish.

- Players will receive an East Coast Volleyball Academy T-shirt. Shirts will be handed out once league play begins. This league does not use uniforms or require matching shirts for competition.

- Championship matches will be played the last week of the league (TBD).

- All matches will be officiated by certified USAV Junior Officials

- If you have a group of 8 to 10 players that would like to be on the same team, all athletes will need to register individually and then one member will need to send an email to ECVAinfo@gmail.com with the complete list of names.

- Players have the option to register with a team already selected OR be placed on a team by ECVA.

**Age divisions are determined by number of registrations. If there are not enough registrants to separate into (3) age groups, we will have (2) age groups; 12U and 13-16U.

FAQ's
Do I need volleyball experience to play? No, this is a recreational level volleyball league. There will be a varied level of competition and experience. Championships will be divided based on your results throughout the season.

What type of clothing do I wear? Athletic clothing is recommended, including athletic specific shoes. Kneepads are recommended but not required.

Do I need to bring a volleyball? No, East Coast will provide all necessary equipment needed for play

Do I need to have played at ECVA before registering for this league? No, we welcome all new players!

If I want extra training, like private lessons, camps, clinics, can I get that at ECVA? Yes! We offer volleyball training all year long

Is the goal of rec volleyball to have fun in a competitive environment? YES!!

**As a note, we expect all spectators to be aware that unsportsmanlike behavior is not tolerated here at ECVA. Negative comments towards coaches, athletes, scorekeepers, officials, or other spectators will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the site of competition.**

Refunds are only given if requested 48 hours prior to the start of the event, camp, clinic, program or league. No credits or refunds will be issued once inside of the 48 hour window prior to the start of the camp/clinic/league. This helps us staff correctly for everything that we offer. Please do not sign up unless you are sure you can attend. Thank you for understanding that a youth non-profit can not afford to pay its staff members and issue refunds for individuals that request it less than 2 days from the start.
